Hawk Messenger

On the left is the value study for Hawk Messenger, an original watercolor painting I did for a friend for Christmas. I always do the value in one color (monochromatic), and it helps me see where my lightest lights and darkest darks are in my composition. On the right is the color study. These are usually quick paintings that I do, less than 15 minutes. I figure out what colors I want to use in the final painting and see how the colors get along with each other.
